Best options trading journal 2026: which one fits how you trade
By OptionClaws · Updated 2026-11-04
There is no single best options trading journal, because the tools differ in what they automate and what they analyze. TradesViz, TradeZella, and TraderSync lead on analytics depth and automatic broker import, Edgewonk on trading psychology, JournalPlus on a one-time price, and OptionClaws fits traders who want the journal inside an options scanner. This guide covers seven tools and says what each does best, using only facts from each company's own public pages, which we opened on November 4, 2026. We make OptionClaws, so read our entry with that in mind. The table is in alphabetical order and the sections run by use case, so nothing here is a ranking. Prices and features change often, so confirm on each pricing page before you pay.
Key facts
- For the deepest analytics and the widest asset coverage, TradesViz states 600+ statistics, 250+ supported brokers and platforms, and 70+ auto-sync connections. Its free Basic plan covers stocks only.
- For automatic broker import, TradeZella lists 500+ broker and prop firm integrations on every plan, from $35/mo, and Tradervue includes broker sync on both paid plans, at $29.95/mo and $49.95/mo.
- For a single payment, JournalPlus lists $159 one-time. Edgewonk lists $35/mo or $197/yr with a 14-day refund window.
- OptionClaws is a journal inside an options scanner: log trades or import CSV files from 7 brokers, pasted text, or a screenshot, then see win rate, drawdown, net greeks, playbook adherence, and an AI review. It has fewer statistics than TradesViz or TradeZella and no futures, forex, or crypto.
- TraderSync lists over 700 broker connections, market replay, backtesting, and a Cypher AI assistant from $22.46/mo billed yearly, but its plan cards list options only on Elite, at $59.96/mo billed yearly.

How we picked and ordered these tools
We included the journals that options traders most often compare, plus OptionClaws. For each one we read the company's own site, pricing page, or help center on November 4, 2026, and used only facts we could confirm there. Where a page did not mention a feature, we say we did not find it, which is not the same as saying it does not exist.
The table is alphabetical. The sections below are grouped by what each tool does best, and the order of the sections is not a ranking. Every journal here suits a different trader, and the right pick depends on your broker, how many asset classes you trade, and how much analysis you will actually read.
Deepest analytics and most asset classes: TradesViz
Best for: traders who want the most statistics and the widest coverage. TradesViz's homepage states 600+ statistics and widgets, 250+ supported brokers and platforms with 70+ auto-sync connections, and support for stocks, options, futures, forex, crypto, and CFDs. Its options page describes automatic recognition of multi-leg spreads, greeks generated for each option leg, payoff charts, and an Options Command Center with net greeks across a portfolio.
If you want automatic broker import and the largest set of reports, TradesViz offers far more than OptionClaws does, and it is the stronger choice on those points.
- Strengths: 600+ statistics, AI features (AI Coach review, AI queries, chat, and a daily brief), a REST API and hosted MCP access on paid plans, and a mobile app listed for iOS and Android.
- Limits: the free Basic plan is stock only, with 3,000 executions per month, one trading account, and candlestick charts only. Options need Pro. Options flow and the options backtester sit under Platinum.
- Check before paying: the pages we read did not show which paid plan includes multi-leg detection or greeks analysis.
- Price: Basic is free, Pro is $19.99/mo or $14.99/mo billed yearly, Platinum is $29.99/mo or $22.49/mo billed yearly, and both paid plans list a 7-day trial.

Automatic sync across 500+ brokers: TradeZella
Best for: traders who want trades to arrive without file exports, plus replay and AI coaching. TradeZella's pricing page lists 500+ broker and prop firm integrations on every plan. Its homepage cites 50+ reports, playbooks, and replay of any trade tick by tick, and its help center lists stocks, options, forex, and crypto as supported assets, with futures on select exchanges and crypto trades added manually.
TradeZella's options page covers tagging and notes, drill-down reporting, and replay of options trades. We did not find multi-leg grouping or greeks described on that page, so confirm how it handles your spreads before you commit.
- Strengths: broker sync on all plans, Zella AI credits (500, 1,500, or 3,000 per month by plan), and trade replays and automated AI backtests on Pro and Ultra.
- Limits: the Essential plan covers 1 active trading account and does not include trade replays or automated backtests. We did not find a free tier or trial stated on the pricing page.
- Price: Essential $35/mo or $26/mo billed $315 yearly; Pro $59/mo or $44/mo billed $531 yearly; Ultra $99/mo or $74/mo billed $891 yearly.
Trading psychology and edge analysis: Edgewonk
Best for: traders who want to study their own behavior. Edgewonk's homepage describes Chart Lab with 50+ data reports, an Edge Finder that scans your journal for strengths and weaknesses, and a Psychology Lab with mistake tracking, trade checklists, and a diary. It lists options among the markets it covers, 200+ brokers, and automated imports, and it runs in the cloud on phone, tablet, or computer.
Edgewonk does not describe options-specific tools such as multi-leg grouping or greeks on the page we read, so it reads as a general-purpose journal that also accepts options.
- Strengths: psychology and review tooling, and every plan has full access to all features.
- Limits: no free trial is mentioned, and the pricing page notes you lose access to your journal after you cancel.
- Price: $35/mo or $197/yr, with a full refund within 14 days of purchase.
A one-time price: JournalPlus
Best for: traders who would rather pay once than subscribe. JournalPlus's product summary lists $159 one-time, described as lifetime access, with a 7-day money-back guarantee. It lists stocks, options, futures, and forex, AI chat about your trades, pattern detection, emotion logging, win rate, R-multiple, drawdown, and trade replay.
For brokers, it lists direct sync with Interactive Brokers, MetaTrader 4 and 5, and six Indian brokers, with CSV import for everything else. If your broker is not on that short list, expect to import files by hand.
- Strengths: no recurring fee and a broad set of review features for the price.
- Limits: a short direct-sync list, no free tier on the page we read, and the rating and user counts on its page are its own figures, which we did not verify.
A journal inside an options scanner: OptionClaws
Best for: traders who find trades with a scanner or builder and want the journal in the same place. OptionClaws is our product. You can log a trade by hand with stock and option legs, log it from a scan result, import it, or log it from ChatGPT or Claude after a preview and an explicit yes. You can also close, roll, and settle trades, including expiry, assignment, and exercise, and a roll links the old and new trade.
Imports accept broker CSV files from Schwab, tastytrade, IBKR, Fidelity, Robinhood, Webull, and Alpaca, plus pasted text and screenshots read by AI. Nothing is saved until you review each row and confirm.
- Stats: win rate, average return, expectancy, profit factor, realized and unrealized P&L, maximum drawdown, average days held, and premium captured, with an equity curve, a calendar of daily results, and breakdowns by strategy, symbol, days to expiration, IV rank, delta, tag, playbook, emotion, and mistake. A calibration chart compares the probability of profit shown at entry with how often your trades won.
- Portfolio view: net delta, gamma, theta, vega, beta-weighted delta, an estimated margin figure, and exposure by symbol, sector, and expiration for your open trades.
- Review tools: playbooks with rules and win rate when rules were followed versus broken, tags for emotions and mistakes, trade notes and screenshots, an AI review of your closed trades, and a chat that answers questions about your journal.
- Practice and sharing: paper trading for option strategies with market and limit orders, a separate live and paper stats view, CSV export, and shareable links for a trade or your journal that never include notes, tags, or account names and can hide dollar amounts.
- Limits: fewer statistics and charts than TradesViz or TradeZella, no futures, forex, or crypto, no backtesting or replay, no order execution (journal orders are practice-only), and trades come in by hand, CSV, pasted text, or screenshot, so expect more manual steps than with tools that list 500+ broker integrations.
- Price: one plan includes every feature. See the pricing page for current terms.
An established journal for stocks and options: Tradervue
Best for: traders who want a long-running journal with a free plan to start. Tradervue's homepage is titled as a trading journal for stocks, options, futures, and forex, lists 80+ platform integrations, and features setup tagging, calendar views, and a trading analysis that compares your exits with the best potential exit.
Its pricing page lists Silver at $29.95/mo and Gold at $49.95/mo. Both include unlimited trade imports, unlimited trading accounts, and broker sync. Silver adds advanced reporting, and Gold adds trade exit performance analysis, max potential P&L analysis, and commissions and fees support. A free plan is mentioned, but the page we read did not show its limits, and it did not describe options-specific features.
Autosync, replay, and AI coaching: TraderSync
Best for: traders who want automatic sync and deep review tools, and who will pay for the top plan to journal options. TraderSync's pricing page says it connects with over 700 brokers and trading platforms, and it lists market replay, trade replay, a strategy checker, automated backtesting, and trade planning. Its Cypher AI assistant is listed at 5, 15, or 60 messages a day depending on the plan, alongside a Cypher Coach.
TraderSync is stronger than OptionClaws on automatic sync, replay, backtesting, and analytics depth. The catch for options traders is plan coverage: its plan cards list stocks, futures, crypto, and forex on Pro and Premium, and "All Assets + Options" on Elite, so options support appears on the Elite plan per its pricing page. Its comparison table lists equity options, futures options, and options spread recognition, but we could not read which plans include each, so confirm before you pay.
- Strengths: autosync, market replay with precision that rises by plan, automated backtesting, and AI coaching.
- Limits: options appear on the highest plan, and the annual prices shown assume a full year of billing.
- Price: Pro $22.46/mo, Premium $37.46/mo, and Elite $59.96/mo, billed yearly, with a 7-day free trial on every plan.
How to choose
Start with the constraint you cannot change, which is usually your broker or your budget. Then decide how much analysis you will read in a typical week, since a larger report set only helps if you use it.
- Find your broker on each tool's list and note whether it syncs automatically or needs a CSV export.
- Check how the tool groups multi-leg trades such as iron condors and rolls, since a spread logged as separate legs distorts win rate.
- Check which plan includes options, because TradesViz Basic is stock only and TraderSync lists options on Elite.
- Pick the depth you will use. TradesViz, TradeZella, and TraderSync offer the most reports, while a smaller journal is easier to keep current.
- Log one month of real trades in your top two choices, and confirm you can export your data before you commit.
