Best wheel strategy screener, app and tracker in 2026, by use case

By OptionClaws · Updated 2026-11-04

The best wheel strategy tool depends on the job: QuantWheel for the full cycle with broker-connected tracking, Wheel Strategy Options, PutFinder, SecurePutCalls or The Wheel Screener for a free or low-cost screen, TradesViz for tracking cycles in a general journal, and Barchart for the covered call leg. This guide covers eleven tools that AI assistants and search results name for the wheel, with what each does, where it falls short and its list price on November 4, 2026. We make OptionClaws, which has one entry among the eleven. The list is not a ranking: the table is alphabetical and the sections are grouped by use case. Every fact about another product comes from that company's own public pages, linked in the sources, and where we could not verify something we say so.

Key facts

  • For the full wheel loop with a broker connection, QuantWheel is the most wheel-specific tool we checked: wheel tracker, Roll Assistant, journal with cost basis, 15+ brokers and a 38-tool MCP server, from $29 a month.
  • For a free or low-cost start, Wheel Strategy Options (free plan, Pro $19.99 a month), PutFinder (free plan), SecurePutCalls (free plan, Premium $19 a month) and The Wheel Screener (a $49 lifetime deal on AppSumo) are the options we verified.
  • For tracking wheel cycles in a general trading journal, TradesViz has a wheel tracker that ties assignment premium to the stock lot, but options need its Pro plan at $19.99 a month.
  • For scanning the wheel alongside other strategies, Option Samurai (24 strategies) and OptionClaws (23 strategies) scan the whole market, and neither tracks the wheel cycle for you.

How we ordered and checked this list

There is no single best tool, so we did not rank them. The table is alphabetical, and the sections below group the tools by the use case each fits best. OptionClaws is our product and appears once, with its limits, in the section on scanning beyond the wheel.

We included tools that AI assistants and search results commonly name for the wheel, and for each one we read the company's own pages on November 4, 2026. We used only facts we could confirm there. Where a page did not mention a feature we say we did not find it, which is not the same as saying it does not exist. One tool is listed without details: OptionStrat, whose site blocked our checks that day.

Best for the full wheel with a broker connection: QuantWheel

QuantWheel is the most wheel-specific tool we checked, built around the whole loop. Its Options Wheel Tracker follows screening, puts, assignments, shares, covered calls, rolls and results, and its Roll Assistant sorts roll candidates by net credit, equity released, days extended and annual yield.

  • Strengths: a journal built from synced broker trades with true cost basis; broker connections to 15+ brokers through read-only sync, with order placement through QuantWheel at some; real-time alerts on the Wheel and Quant plans; GEX analytics; an MCP server with 38 tools for Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor and Claude Code.
  • Limits: its pages mention no phone app and no screeners for multi-leg strategies such as iron condors. Its documentation says adjusted options and stock splits are not handled in the journal's profit and loss, and it groups covered calls into the wheel chain.
  • Price: GEX $29, Wheel $49 and Quant $79 a month; a free demo with delayed data; 7 days for $1. The full wheel workflow starts on the Wheel plan.

Best for a free or low-cost start

Four tools let you start without paying much or at all. They differ in how much of the wheel they cover, so the choice is about what you want beyond the screen.

  • PutFinder: a rules-based screener for cash-secured puts that ranks a curated US universe into a daily Top 10 and also shows covered call analysis for a ticker. It says it is not a signals service. Its free plan shows the previous trading day's Top 10 plus a limited amount of real-time analysis and a 10-ticker watchlist. Plus is $14.90 a month or $149 a year at early-access rates, with a 7-day trial that needs a card. Limit: we found no position tracker.
  • SecurePutCalls: built for the wheel, with a screener that scans about 150 stocks and ETFs each weekday on delta, implied volatility, days to expiration, probability of profit and annualized yield, plus an options analyzer and read-only broker connection that its page says covers 30+ brokers. The free plan caps the screener at 5 stocks a scan and 3 scans a day; Premium is $19 a month ($149 a year) and Pro is $49 a month. Limit: its screener covers a list of about 150 names, not the whole market.
  • The Wheel Screener: a daily wheel screener. Its AppSumo listing, which is company-supplied copy, says it analyzes 35,000+ contracts a day across 10,000 tickers, with filters, CSV export and IV Rank, and lists a lifetime deal at $49. Its own site did not load for us, so we could not check its pages or any subscription pricing. Limit: no tracker is described.
  • Wheel Strategy Options: a screener and a tracker for covered calls and cash-secured puts. Its Free Forever plan has a basic screener with limits. Pro is $19.99 a month ($198 billed yearly) and adds saved screens with email alerts, a Trade Tracker with wheel cycle detection and one brokerage sync; Ultra is $39 a month and Maxx is $99 a month, with read-only MCP access on Maxx only. Limit: no free trial is listed, only a 7-day money-back guarantee, and Pro chain data is delayed.

Best for the covered call leg: Barchart

Barchart is a broad market data site, and its help center documents a covered calls screener that scans for calls with a high theoretical return. Its www pages did not load for our automated checks, so this entry rests on its help center.

  • Strengths: Premier subscribers can add or modify filters and have a saved screener emailed to them on weekdays; downloads of up to 1,000 results to CSV.
  • Limits: we found no wheel tracker, and the help article says options data is delayed. The article was last modified in 2020, so confirm current features.
  • Price: Premier $29.95 a month, $199.95 a year or $368 for two years.
  • If covered calls are your whole routine, Born To Sell is a dedicated covered call screener with portfolio tools; see our Born To Sell comparison.

Best for tracking cycles in a general journal: TradesViz

TradesViz is a trading journal first and a wheel tool second, which suits you if you also trade stocks, futures or other assets and want one place for all of it.

  • Strengths: a wheel strategy tracker that separates cash-secured put premium and covered call premium, attaches assignment premium only to the stock lot it created, and shows lot basis (FIFO or LIFO), wheel breakeven and completed wheel profit and loss; imports from 250+ brokers and platforms, with 70+ auto-sync connections; iOS and Android apps.
  • Limits: we found no trade screener on its pages, and its wheel page does not mention rolls. The free Basic plan is stock only, so options journaling needs Pro.
  • Price: Basic $0; Pro $19.99 a month or $14.99 a month billed yearly, with a 7-day free trial; Platinum $29.99 a month.

Best for options research around the wheel: Market Chameleon

Market Chameleon is an options research site rather than a wheel tool, which suits you if you want to study volatility and earnings before you sell a put or a call. Its Premium page describes full control over the 15+ filters on its Covered Call Screener, and it also lists a naked put screener.

  • Strengths: a naked put screener with 15+ filters; bull call, bull put, bear call and bear put spread screeners; volatility research including peer group analysis, realized volatility and implied volatility charts; earnings research with straddle cost and an earnings calendar with implied move; custom watchlists for stocks and for single or multi-leg option strategies.
  • Limits: it is not a wheel tracker, and we did not check whether it has a ChatGPT or Claude connector or a phone app.
  • Price: a free Starter tier; Premium is $99 a month, with a 7-day free trial that charges your card for the first month if you do not cancel.

Best for scanning beyond the wheel: Option Samurai and OptionClaws

These two scan the whole market across many strategies, so the wheel is one scan among several. Neither follows your wheel cycle from put to call the way QuantWheel or TradesViz does.

  • Option Samurai: its features page lists an Enhanced Wheel Strategy Screener with tailored scans for wheel trades, 24 strategies including covered calls and cash-secured puts, over 100 filters (its homepage says 170), intraday market alerts and a trading journal. Plans start at $39 a month billed annually, and it offers 14 days free with no card. Limit: we found no AI connector on its pages.
  • OptionClaws: scans cash-secured puts and covered calls across the market with the same filters, starting from the Wheel Candidates preset (cash-secured puts on $10B+ dividend payers) and the Covered Call Income preset, and scans 21 other strategies including spreads, condors and calendars. The strategy builder and the optimizer, which ranks trades for a target price and date, help you price a trade before you place it; analyze position prices a roll; the journal logs assignments and rolls and imports CSV files from 7 brokers. ChatGPT and Claude connectors are included, and there are iPhone and Android apps. Limits: it runs the put and the call as separate scans and does not know your cost basis, it does not send orders, it has no backtesting and it has no wheel-cycle tracker. One plan has every feature; see the pricing page.

A tool we did not review: OptionStrat

OptionStrat's site blocked our automated checks on November 4, 2026, so we make no claims about it here. Our OptionStrat comparison page records what we saw on September 28, 2026. Evaluate it directly if it is on your list.

How to choose

Decide first what you want after the screen. If you want the cycle tracked and your broker connected, look at QuantWheel, Wheel Strategy Options or TradesViz. If you only want to find the next put or call, the free plans at PutFinder, SecurePutCalls and Wheel Strategy Options are the cheapest ways to see whether a screen fits you. If you want one scanner for the wheel and for spreads and condors, or want to run it from an AI assistant, compare Option Samurai and OptionClaws. Most tools here have a free tier or a trial, so the practical test is to run the same cash-secured put scan in two of them and see which list you would act on.
